REIKI - A System of Healing Using Universal Life Force Energy

Reiki is an alternative form of healing that originated in Japan in the end of the 19th century. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen Universal Life Energy flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress. If it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word “Reiki” means essentially Universal Life Energy. This soul-centered holistic modality accelerates the healing process and removes toxins from the body. Reiki increases the flow of energy to all the systems in the body, helping to alleviate pain, brings emotional and spiritual balance, and bring a sense of peace and well-being to those being worked on.

In Yogic tradition, the human body has seven energy centers called chakras. When these energy centers are healthy and open, so are we. These energy centers affect us physically, emotionally, mentally and in our relationships with ourselves and others. When they are blocked (which can happen for a variety of reasons - injury, illness, or disconnection from others) we we can feel frustrated, stuck and lacking of life force energy and vitality.

Our life experiences, all the way from our childhood to present day, can create constrictions in our chakras. For example, if you were consistently criticized as a child for talking too much, we might close down our fifth chakra (throat center), limiting our creative expression or ability to speak up for ourselves.

Traumas, fears and perceived negative experiences can lead to long-term imbalances in your energy system that may then manifest into person emotional, mental or physical challenges such as insecurity, anger, stress or disease. Healing and opening your chakra centers are vital to your health and energy.
